Statute of Limitations

Dear Michael,

I need your thoughts on the following:

How would you handle Statute of Limitations (SOL)?

There is the Statute of Limitations on reopening a case (5 years from DOI), SOLs when a case is a 132A (Discrimination) and/or S&W (Serious and Willful), and SOLs on denials of Social Security cases among others.

Where would you place SOLs? Create fields under the User Tab?

I was thinking would it be possible to add on the Case Card under Case Dates a "SOL" Date? However, since a case may have multiple Extended Apps, each one of those DOIs will have a different SOL date.

Currently we handle Closing SOLs by having a physical tickle card + Using the create a task to Create a Task for the specific secretary whose Finish By date is 3 months before the DOI's SOL. Plus each SOL is placed in the Yellow Message Area of that specific Client Card.

Thanks again!

Sincerely,

P.S. Regardless - How would you then be able to do a report on SOLs? Or a specific type of SOL?

Thanks three times!

Hi Michael,

you could actually enter it in several different places if you like (as a backup method). You could easily put the dates in tasks if you want. You could then run a task report off just what specific tasks start with (like SOL). You could also put them in a separate STATUTE case activity and run a report that way as well. You could also create a user defined field for statutes and run reports in there as well.
