Questions about Leins +

#1

Post by Michael Lerner » Mon Mar 11, 2002 10:44 am

Dear Michael and fellow A1 Offices,
Our office had several questions.

1. Where are people posting lein cliamants? Are they making a designation on the Parties sheet or just using Case Activity? Where would you suggest we show and track costs? Can it be made compatible with QuickBooks?

2. Is there a way to set letters to Page mode (which shows page breaks) by default?

3. How would you handle statutes? Would you use the Calendar tickler system or is it easier to use task to remind you?

Thanks!

Sincerely,
Michael Lerner

Hi Michael,

1a. Where are people posting lein cliamants?

They are entering lien claimants at the Parties sheet usually with a type of LC.

1b. Are they making a designation on the Parties sheet or just using Case Activity?

They usually create a User Defined Case Activity sheet and track meds and liens in the case activity.

1c. Where would you suggest we show and track costs?

Case Activity - Case Activity - Case Activity all the way. The latest update has an excellent new and revised case activity that makes it even easier to set up various user defined case activity categories for tracking general notes, time, fees, costs, checks, user defined categories, etc.

1d. Can it be made compatible with QuickBooks?

There has been zero requests for this. QuickBooks is usually used for office payroll and stuff. Not sure what you would like to see. Usually offices feel that the more that can be done in A1-Law, the better.

2. Is there a way to set letters to Page mode (which shows page breaks) by default?

Yes. Tools, System, Configure Staff Defaults, Form Letters and set the View Mode to Page.

3. How would you handle statutes? Would you use the Calendar tickler system or is it easier to use task to remind you?

Either Tasks, Case Activity or both. I highly recommend using both Tasks and Case Activity so that you have a "double entry" and it's listed in at least two places. You may also decide to use the Calendar as well. Ticklers are usually not necessary for statutes since reports will be run anyways. You may also decide to utilize the Calendar Macro feature to automatically enter reminders in advance (ie: 1 month, 2 month, 3 months in advance, etc.)
