UDF Case Count Setup + Reports

Dear Michael,

Our office wants to keep track of whether a closed case is a LTM (Life Time Medical) among other things and be able to bring that information up quickly in a report. I noticed a feature update from:

March 10, 2002 Version 4.1.5

Could you please give an example of how I would set this up to work properly?

Thank you very much!

Sincerely,

Let me get back to you on this as I'm off site right now but are you aware that you may change the status to CL-LTM and then just pull up all cases that are CL-LTM? That might be easier and faster.

What do you think?

Mike

Dear Michael,

If I create a status called CL-LTM, will:

a. When I change the status to CL-LTM, I will get the large band across the bottom of the card which states "This Case is Closed"

b. When I use "Search for a Case" and Search for Case Status "Closed", will I pick up status "Closed" and the CL-LTM as well or only status "Closed" files? (Sometimes we just want to see all cases that are closed).

Thanks!

Yes - as long as the first two letters of the case status begin with CL

b. When I use "Search for a Case" and Search for Case Status "Closed", will I pick up status "Closed" and the CL-LTM as well or only status "Closed" files? (Sometimes we just want to see all cases that are closed).

Only CLOSED. If you want both, enter CL for the status. If you want the LTM cases, enter CL-LTM for the status.

Dear Michael,

I went ahead and added a new case status CL-LTM.
It worked exactly like you said it would :).

From the Search for a Case Window:
I could search by just CL-LTM by choosing that for Case Status.
I could search by all other Closed files by choosing CLOSED for Case Status.

*I found I could get a listing results that would Include BOTH by TYPING in CL in the Case Status Box. The Found Cases Window would bring up the CL-LTM cases first in Alphabetical order followed by the CLOSED cases.*

KUDOS!

Great!

1. I went ahead and added a new case status CL-LTM.

You may also increase your search parameters and specify one or several attorney initials if you only want the CL-LTM for specific attorneys.

2. The Found Cases Window would bring up the CL-LTM cases first in Alphabetical order followed by the CLOSED cases

Right - and you may also double click on a title in the header in the Found Cases window to alphabetize by that section before printing a report.
