Dear Michael,
I have run into a problem editing MS Word Letters through A1.
System Setup:
A1 Latest Update - 6.8.1 A
Microsoft Word 2002/XP
Windows XP Professional
I can:
1. Edit the A1 Document that is part of the letter
2. Edit the MS Word letter by going directly into the WORD folder
However when I attempt to Edit the MS Word Template Form --> Yes (button)
This box appears:
Program Error
OLE error code 0x800401e3:Operation Unavailable
Then - Do you want to Quit A1 Law? At this point it either kicks me out of A1 Law or gives me the getsysvar.prg & other messages until it kicks me out.
Any idea what is going on & what I can do?
Note: I first noticed the error after Edit - Filter Letters - then tried to check on the Word Template with one of the two letters shown. I thought it might be the issue but after I cleared the filter on the next attempt the problem persisted.
Thank you very much!

Re: A1 - Editing Microsoft Word Letters
Here's my response:
1. It's best to edit Word letters directly in Word.
2. Use the newer WordStyle2 (merge form 10626) with its commands like this as an example:
FileName = 100 Depo Letter.doc
>
3. Note the filename convention such as 100 Depo Letter.doc so as to make it easy to number and understand the document template in Word.
4. See the Integration with Word/Word Perfect article for more information here:

Re: A1 - Editing Microsoft Word Letters
Dear Michael,
Thanks for the heads-up about Letter #10626. I think I'm going to need to do a major Word template revamp so they all standardize to this letter.
However when trying to open A1-MS Word Templates I am still having the forementioned:
Program Error
OLE error code 0x800401e3:Operation Unavailable
I thought it may have something to do with the letters I have been coding in Word... However when I tried to Edit Letter #10627 - Word Sample Letter (based solely off of #10626)... it also had the same problem.
Any tips on what I should do?
Thanks again!

Re: A1 - Editing Microsoft Word Letters
There is no need to open the letters from within A1-Law. When modifying the templates, open them directly in Word. Some versions of Word are less stable with the method used to open them directly from within A1-Law and that method was become somewhat obsolete. But, you can easily open the templates directly from Word.

Re: A1 - Editing Microsoft Word Letters
Dear Michael,
To confirm:
Don't edit Microsoft Word letters from the A1 Edit Letter (tab).
Instead edit them directly from the (Server)\A1LAW\WORD (folder).
Thanks!

Re: A1 - Editing Microsoft Word Letters
Right - and consider implementing the new style commands instead of bookmarks described at the articles link.
