TASKS/TICKLERS
Hi Mike,
I remember reading that there's a way to set a task or tickler to, say 30 days from now. Now that I need that function, I can't find how to do that.

Re: TASKS/TICKLERS
Dear Leslie,
For Tasks,
Go to the specific Case Card. Click on the blue underlined "Tasks". In the "Tasks for Case X" Window, Click on Add a Task . Click in the "Finish By" box and type in "+" and "(No of days in the future want set task") - then press the Enter key or Click anywhere else in the Window. So for a task you want to be 30 days in the future you would type in "+30", click anywhere else in the Window, and now the exact date 30 days in the future will be in that box.
Sincerely,
Michael Lerner

Re: TASKS/TICKLERS
Good answer Michael. Also, they may double click on the date to view a calendar and double click on the date they want. But, for tasks, usually like you said, just entering +30 works faster.

Re: TASKS/TICKLERS
Hi Mike,
I can't get the ticklers in the calander to work. For a test, I entered todays date in the tickler's tab & entered my initials in the Assigned To area. When I click on the ticklers box in the main menu, it says there's none. Is there a step I'm missing?

Re: TASKS/TICKLERS
When adding the calendar appointment, at the Ticklers/Alerts tab, be sure to click the Type of Appointment dropdown and select Tickler.
Personally, I think tasks may be a better module to use. But, the calendar ticklers and alerts should work just fine. Select the Alert option to be alerted a specific time.

Re: TASKS/TICKLERS
Hi Mike,
Is there any way we can program A1 not to show all future tasks/ticklers on start-up? In addition, I don't want to see all the tasks I've delegated to others unless I need to...however, I still want to see all past & current tasks/ticklers on start-up.
Thanks,
Leslie

Re: TASKS/TICKLERS
Actually,
I'm curious as to why it matters. A1-Law only displays the task window only if the tasks or delegated tasks are overdue and displays them by the Finish Date order anyways. I am working on something so that it will only display tasks up to today or a specified date in the future (just like when you print them). However, you can completed suppress the tasks on startup by clicking Tools, My Preferences, Client Card and selecting No Show but then you won't see the overdue ones on startup either. Again, A1-Law will not display the task window on startup unless some are overdue.
Mike.

Re: TASKS/TICKLERS
I guess the employees are getting overwhelmed with the amount of past due & future tasks coming up, so instead of reading the tasks, they escape out of the screen. I think I'll like the new update you'r working on.
Here's a new request:
It would be helpful if when entering an activity in the Case Activity screen, we had an option of marking it as a task. I know it allows e-mail & task completed, which is nice, however, many times when we're entering an activity we realize we should mark it as a task also.
Thanks,
Leslie

Re: TASKS/TICKLERS
Hello,
okay correct me if I'm wrong here. But, I think of case activity as things that have already been done and tasks as things that need to be done. Once a task is marked Completed, A1-Law automatically moves it into the case activity (and it may still be accessed from tasks by clicking the Tasks Not Completed to toggle it to Tasks Completed). So, if you had it in both, when the task is marked completed it would be posted again in case activity.
Does that make sense?
Thanks,
Mike
