CT claims

How do other firms handle CT claims with multiple employers?

The injuries "card" only supports one employer and one carrier. Does one simply duplicate that card and put in other employers and carriers?

How do you record (or do you) the dates of liability / coverage for each defendant?

A question which has wider applicability: How do you keep track of the which adjuster/lawyer goes with which employer when preparing correspondence? - the parties list with which one is presented using the command does not differentiate between the various defense groupings.

Thanks.

Hi Doug -

1. How do other firms handle CT claims with multiple employers?

If you mean for form letters, I can assure you that almost all of them are using the GetParty commands. Hopefully, other offices will start reading other threads and provide their input (also, in this way, everyone can learn from everyone else).

1. The injuries "card" only supports one employer and one carrier.

But, that's per injury. You may have as many injuries on one card as you like. I am thinking about increasing the carriers to two per injury. In the meantime, most offices just add a second injury and specify either the same dates of injury or the dates during the interim period for the CT.

2. Does one simply duplicate that card and put in other employers and carriers?

I think you mean that injury - I believe that is what they do.

3. How do you record (or do you) the dates of liability / coverage for each defendant?

You may enter this in the date of injury field. You could also either put this in notes or you may set up User Defined Fields for each injury (I'm not referring to user defined fields for a client card, but I'm referring to at the injuries sheet).

4. A question which has wider applicability: How do you keep track of the which adjuster/lawyer goes with which employer when preparing correspondence?

In general, most offices put the adjuster at the Injuries card. If you don't want to use the getparty, I could perhaps add a GetParty that would pull the information from the Application/Injury tab instead of the Party tab - perhaps this would solve a lot of problems. Let me know.

Dear Michael,

A new getparty would be wonderful. Our office decided to go with having the Insurance company attached to the Parties sheet but have the Adjuster listed on the Extended Application.

-Currently is there a command / code trim that will pull the adjuster from the currently selected Extended Application?

Thanks!
