Dear Michael,
1. On the Client Card's right hand list, what is function of the underlined "Intake Sheet". I haven't found it so far in the help manual. It's Hint is "Display the Intake Sheet". However if I click on it I get the message "Intake Sheet Not Found - There are no intake sheets attached to this case." Is it a future way to attach a scanned intake sheet or?
2. On the Extended Application for Adjucation, Does the Attached Applicant, Employer, Carrier, and Attorney (s) information get updated when you change that information in the Rolodex or does it stay static (unchanging) from the original time/date of attachment?
3. After you attach a party, you can designate which side that party is on by highlighting the particular party and then clicking on "Type". There you can choose the "Side", so you can make attorney into d>attorney (type of card attorney, side - defendant's side). Is it possible to use the getparty command in form letters with designations like "d>attorney"? (aka getparty,d>attorney)
4. In the User Defined screens, when would you use a "Calculate" Field Style?
I'm also encountering one problem. In Edit A Staff Member's Profile - In the Titles (combo box) - typed in or selected dropdown titles won't save - when you save and return it is still an empty box.
Thanks again!
Sincerely,
Michael Lerner

Re: A1 Questions
1. On the Client Card's right hand list, what is function of the underlined "Intake Sheet".
If you have filled out a Prospect - it brings you to the prospect card. Click on prospects from the main menu. Prospects is relatively new and probably almost no one is using it as of yet. But, you may read all about it in the Help files - there are several topics devoted to it. Prospects allows you to enter PNC's (Potential New Clients) and track referrals, whether cases have been accepted, denied, referred out, track referral out fees, etc. But, it is relatively new and so in a sense the "prospect module" is in it's first release.
2. Does the Attached Applicant, Employer, Carrier, and Attorney (s) information get updated when you change that information in the Rolodex
No. It is static and in this way, you know how the Application for Adjudication was filed at the board. In addition, it's easy to see where the applicant was living at the time of injury. Although, I have thought of a Wizard to update this information for those offices that don't feel the need to have it "static."
3. Is it possible to use the getparty command in form letters with designations like "d>attorney"? (aka getparty,d>attorney)
Not at the present time - but it would not be a difficult feature to add if you want. I see what you are "getting at." You would like your staff to be able to easily see what side Parties are on and thus making it easier to select which parties to cc on a letter.
4. In the User Defined screens, when would you use a "Calculate" Field Style?
If for example you have a fee#1 for one field and a Fee#2 for a second field and maybe field #3 is the grand total of the two fields. Or maybe Field #3 might be Field #1 plus 20% of Field #2 - etc.
I'm also encountering one problem. In Edit A Staff Member's Profile - In the Titles (combo box) - typed in or selected dropdown titles won't save - when you save and return it is still an empty box.
I have been able to reproduce the problem and I will fix it and post an update to the web shortly.

Re: A1 Questions
Hi Mike,
I'm trying to grasp the use of the Injuries section. It appears it's intended only for the purpose of filing Applications for Adjudication. Does that mean we should not continue to update the card after the App. is filed? For instance, if after the filing of the app. we find out who the adjuster & the defense attorney is, we should not attatch it to the injury because it would change the way we had filed it?

Re: A1 Questions
Also, what is the function of the empty square on the lower right of the injury section, for instance where the client, insurance & employer were attatched to an injury?

Most offices will update the adjuster and attorney on the extended application at the injuries sheet for information purposes because that information is not printed on the court application anyways.

If you are referring to the small box that may contain one letter or character, it was retained simply for compatibility with our old DOS program and really has no use in A1-Law. Therefore, you may use it for whatever you want if anything at all.
